Hi there, I am Colin Pierce, a photographer born in Merseyside, England in 1967. I have been interested in photography from an early age but it was not until later in life that I started to take it seriously. I am not a commercial photographer, doing fashion shoots or advertising campaigns but considers myself more of an artistic photographer. Rather than produce images for clients or for purely financial gain, my main aim is to produce thought provoking art.
Specializing in Fine Art Nude, I like to explore the range of beauty that is in the human form. Beauty can be found in every individual and in many forms. The nude has had it's place in the art world virtually since man had awareness and was able to translate thought into images. From cave paintings to classical sculpture to paintings, all have seen the nude emerge as some of the greatest expressions of art. With the advent of photography it is no wonder that, it too, should see it's own versions.
Some may view this art form as no more than pornography. However throughout the ages some have always had this view. No-one today would consider statues from ancient Rome as pornographic, yet the catholic church hacked pieces off these classic art pieces thinking the naked human form would corrupt mens thoughts. It is the artists job to sometimes push the limits to stimulate thought and debate. Which, in turn, hopefully creates a better understanding of ourselves and others.
